Weekend Events: Virginia is for Winos, Maryland is for Beer Bellies

More festivals on tap for this weekend, but will the weather forecast spoil all of the fun? Let’s hope not.

  • The 33rd Annual Virginia Wine Festival, which features more than 50 Virginia wineries, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (9/27-9/28). Located at the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas, the event runs from 11am – 6pm on both days. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the gate.
  • There are a slew of fall beer festivals over the next few weeks (including this event mentioned here last week) and the recently opened National Harbor Resort is hosting Das Best Oktoberfest Saturday (9/27) from noon – 8pm. The event takes place under cover and will go on rain or shine. In addition to the 75 featured beers and two stages for live music, organizers are also promising a biggest beer belly competition (no joke). Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 on-site.
