Seriously, have you ever seen a lobster roll this big and amazingly delicious looking? It can only be from one place. Maine, of course. And don’t even think of comparing it to a lobster roll from somewhere else. There’s no comparison to a Maine lobster roll.
I didn’t take the best photo, but who cares? Look at all of that lobster – it’s an entire lobster worth of meat, on one roll! You can barely even see the bun! Standard issue hot dog bun, toasted. Very light on the mayo. And none of that lettuce junk mucking it up and getting in the way. Oh, and you can’t even see the plastic cup of melted butter that it came with!
The Maine lobster roll. Pure joy. This one came from Red’s Eats in Wiscasset. It’s a roadside seafood shack and widely considered to turn out the best lobster rolls in the state, if not anywhere.
As you can see from the photo below, it can get pretty busy. Luckily, I got a chance to stop by during a visit a couple of weekends ago, before the arrival of the lengthy summer lines.
